Close your eyes and picture this.
You are lying on a wooden bench on the front porch, about five feet from you is a stone path, and right next to that is a rice field. The wind is blowing, the rice and the palm trees are swaying. The noise-maker in the field is swinging rapidly with a loud banging sound. The gamilan music from the town is drifting around you and every-so-often, a shrieking/moaning/wailing voice, which is not at all morbid or frightening accompanies it. You wonder, is this paradise? Then, you decide to explore around you. And you discover, when you reach the end of your hotel's driveway, that chaos and confusion is right outside your door. |
